Oscars 2016 nominations: ‘The Revenant’ tops the list, followed by ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’, ‘The Martian’

The-revenantWith the Golden Globe awards behind us, the most awaited nominations are now of the 88th Academy awards, or the Oscars, for 2015. In a live-streaming event, the Oscar nominations were announced by Guillermo Del Toro, Ang Lee, John Krasinski and Academy President Cheryl Boone Isaacs.
The ceremony begans with nominations in technical categories. Nominations for the major prizes including best picture were expected towards the end of the roughly 15-minute announcement by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science
Industry watchers have been hard-pressed this year to predict which movies and actors will be headed for Oscars glory on February 28 — the pinnacle of Hollywood’s awards season — and many are betting on some surprises. Having said that, this year seems to be a lucky one for Leonardo DiCaprio. The awards will telecast on February 28. Here’s the full list of nominations:
