Book Revanth Reddy for yagam comments, lawyers tell cops


Revanth Reddy_1_0_0_0_2_0Hyderabad: Telangana Advocates JAC has lodged a complaint with the police against TD MLA A. Revanth Reddy, alleging that by speaking against the Ayutha Chandi Maha Yagam, he had hurt the sentiments of the people.

The JAC said that during a press conference on December 26 at NTR Trust Bhavan, Mr Reddy had said that “Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s performing rituals was akin to cat going on a pilgrimage after killing 100 rats”.

The JAC members, in their complaint said that “rituals and sacrifices are a part of the Hindu tradition, which are practices since ages.”

By speaking against such rituals, Revanth Reddy has hurt the sentiments of the community, they said, requesting the Banjara Hills police to take action against him under Section 295(a) of IPC (Deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings).

The police said that they will seek legal opinion on the matter. “We have sent the complaint for legal opinion. Based on the opinion, we will proceed,” said Banjara Hills inspector C. Murali Krishna.
